Philander Van Burington collection [graphic]. [ca. 1890-1926]

This collection consists of glass plate negatives, lantern slides, a postcard, a poem book, slides and photographs. The glass plate negatives were created by Philander Van Burington, ca. 1899 - 1926. They depict Burington family members and friends, the family's home on Rich Street in Columbus, Ohio, family travels, nature scenes and landmarks in the Columbus, Ohio area. There are also glass plate negatives related to Ohio State University, an engineering class, William Howard Taft's visiting Columbus and a pamphlet of poetry. The 35mm slides made in 1997 are duplicate images of the glass plate negatives. Additionally, there are modern photographs made from the glass plate negatives that depict Philander Van and Viola Burington, the interior and exterior of their Rich Street home in Columbus and an exterior view of the Ohio State School for the Blind.

The Medical Alumni Society of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, since 1931 with the exception of 1939, has given the honor of "Man of the Year" to a doctor(s) during their annual reunions. In 1973 the award name changed from the title "Man of the Year" to "Professor of the Year." And in 1975, Margaret (Peg) Hines was the first woman to be so honored.
